Biographical Sketch
Carl Cathers was a close personal
friend of Anne Elstner Matthews, 1899-1981, the star of the radio program
“Stella Dallas.” Mrs. Matthews was born in Lake Charles to Joseph and
Sallie Elstner. After her acting career, Matthews settled in Lambertville,
New Jersey to run the River’s Edge Restaurant.
Scope and Content Note
The Carl Cathers Collection consists
of clippings, photographs, postcards, and papers relating to Carl Cathers,
Anne Elstner Matthews and her family.
