Sketch
Joseph Burton
Andrepont was born in Church Point, Louisiana in 1930.
The Andrepont family moved to Sulphur, La. around 1944.
Andrepont served in the U.S. Army during the Korean
Conflict, and then worked for Firestone as a mechanic
and engineer. Andrepont served in the Legislature from
1980 to 1986 representing the Sulphur/Carlyss area
(District 33) and is a member of the Democratic Party.
From 1986 to 1988, Andrepont was the Director of the
Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District.
Scope and
Content Note
The collection
consists of a scrapbook compiled by J. Burton
Andrepont’s secretary, Lynelle Vice, 1983-1986. The
scrapbook mostly contains newspaper clippings, with a
few photographs. Archives staff photocopied the
original scrapbook for preservation purposes. Staff
also removed photographs and other original items from
the scrapbook. The collection also includes a
videocassette, audiocassette, and a transcript of an
oral history interview with Andrepont on October 1,
2004.
