Agenda, containing mostly catalog curriculum
changes, made by the University Council from 1981-1989 and, after its name change to the
Advisory Council, from 1989-present.

Records
The records consist of a gold blazer, dark blue slacks, and a lapel pin worn by
Stephone Maddox for the MSU Ambassadors.

This collection consists of
information resources and various items relating to all athletics on the McNeese
State University campus. It contains media guides, programs and film
footage of athletic events.
McNeese State University/Band
Records
The records consist of a beige and gold
jacket worn during band performances. The 1955 Log (MSU
yearbook) features a picture of band members wearing this
jacket.

Series Records
The records consist of photographs, negatives, and promotional materials of
Banners Series events from 1994 to 2004.
McNeese State University/Black
History Month Committee Records
The records consist of newspaper articles, meeting minutes, promotional
materials, and samples of the work of featured artists from 2004-2006.
McNeese State University/Bookstore Collection
The records consist of a 1952 doggy cap, four scrapbooks, compiled by Mrs.
Brownie Boozer, documenting the work of the bookstore, 1964-1970; two afghans
depicting various buildings on campus, one beige and blue produced ca. 1993, one
multicolored produced in 2003; and one blue and gold MSU felt banner, ca. 1995.
Each scrapbooks contains newspaper clippings, photographs, letters, articles,
notes and cards.

The collection contains documents relating to the various self studies conducted

Schools (SACS) and miscellaneous publications and photographs from the
departments.

Collection
The collection contains documents relating to the various self studies conducted
by the College of Nursing for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
(SACS) and the National League for Nursing. The collection also contains
materials relating to the 50th anniversary of the nursing program held in 2005,
scrapbooks from the department and the student nurses’ association, photographs,
and miscellaneous plaques, certificates, and examples of uniforms.

Collection
The collection consists primarily of self studies and program reviews from 1986
to the present. Also included are souvenir programs from the laying of the
cornerstone of the new Science building.

The Records consist of Dr. Peter Dart’s office files, 1992-2000, and n.d. The
files include a proposition for a campus radio station, plans for Hardtner Hall,
Department Head Meetings documents, degree plan revision notes and forms, print
materials from professional organizations, and a research file.

The Collection consists of McNeese faculty members' published works, arranged
alphabetically by author.
McNeese State University/Faculty Senate (Council) Collection
The collection contains minutes,
correspondence, proposals, reports, notes, etc. of the McNeese Faculty Senate (Council)
from its organization in 1973-1974 to the present.
McNeese State University/Faculty Wives Club Collection
The Collections consists of scrapbooks, president's papers, meeting reports and
yearbooks of the organization from
its founding in 1952 to 1989.
McNeese State University/Film Collection
Pieces of film showing scenes around the
McNeese campus during the 1950s and 1960s. Includes homecoming parades, football
games, classrooms and the opening of the Alumni Center and Frazar Memorial Library.
McNeese State
University/Foundation Records
The McNeese State University Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit organization
of business and professional leaders. It was incorporated in 1965 to establish
scholarships for McNeese students. The collection contains the minutes of the
quarterly and annual meetings from 1965 to the present.
McNeese State University/Frazar Memorial Library Records
The Records consist of annual reports, meeting minutes, survey results,
publications, policies, and procedures of the various departments and committees
within the Library. The Records also contain information about the Library
building, including the initial construction, remodeling and additions, and
blueprints. Finally, the Records include Friends of the Library membership
information.
McNeese State University/Log and Catalog Collection
Contains the McNeese yearbook, the Log, from 1941 to the present, the
undergraduate catalogs from 1944, and graduate school catalogs from 1961.
McNeese State University/Office of Institutional
Effectiveness and Academic Support
The collection contains records that include information on accreditation,
master plans, enrollment, recruitment, TOPS, student surveys, and other material
from files maintained by the Office. Inclusive dates are from 1954 to present.
Also includes material relating to NCAA Accreditation and the Division I
Institutional Self Study, 1992-1995.

Photograph Collection
Contains negatives, prints, and contact sheets of photographs taken by campus
photographers from the early 1950s. Includes sports, buildings, faculty,
students, many campus activities and organizations. The collection is extensive.
Requests for information on specific holdings of the collection should be made
to the Archives Department.

University/Office of the President Records
The Records consist of six series: Series I. Microfilm Records (1945-1990),
Series II. Lether E. Frazar, Series III. Wayne N. Cusic, Series IV. Thomas S.
Leary, Series V. Jack V. Doland, and Series VI. Robert D. Hebert. The records
contain the office files of the presidents, in the order in which the presidents
created and used them, including correspondence, notes, legal documents,
contracts, and reports, as well as documents relating to major events on campus.
McNeese State University/Panhellenic Council Collection
The collection contains correspondence,
minutes, business papers, photographs and reports on the Panhellenic Council and campus
sororities dating from 1951-1954 and 1970-1993.
McNeese State University/Phi Chi Theta, Beta Upsilon Chapter
The collection contains newspaper
clippings, a manual and scrapbooks that consist of photographs, clippings and
programs, which pertain to the McNeese Beta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Chi Theta, a
co-ed professional business and economics fraternity.

Contains administrative documents, newspaper
articles, photographs, scrapbooks, yearbooks and awards from the McNeese State University
ROTC from 1941-1947.

Newspaper clippings concerning McNeese
beginning in 1939 and continuing to the present.
McNeese State University/60th Anniversary Oral History Collection
Contains oral history interviews with several
of the first students attending McNeese in 1939-1941, transcripts, current photographs,
copies of photographs from the yearbooks of the time and from the photograph file.
McNeese State University/Smith Hall Files Collection
Contains correspondence, other miscellaneous
documents concerning the use of the Chennault Air Force Base for the university, purchase
of various properties by McNeese, sale of various properties by McNeese and construction
and renovation of buildings on the McNeese campus. Dates vary from early 1940s to
the 1980s.

Contains material from productions held from
1969 to the present, including photographs, playbills and reviews. also contains
information on Alpha Psi Omega, the dramatic fraternity.

Collection
Contains files from Abraham's tenure on the Board of Trustees, 1981-1986,
including information on board meetings, budgets, programs, salaries, reports,
etc. for the schools under the jurisdiction of the Board.
Kathleen Allums Papers
The collection consists of Allums’ publication, Piano Teaching Literature,
a partial scrapbook on La Voix de Musique from the 1940s at McNeese,
programs for various recitals, and a 1913 composition published by the Regent
Music Publishing Company in Lake Charles by Edwin H. See.
American Association of
University Women-Lake Charles Branch/Lake Area University Women Collection
Contains scrapbooks, yearbooks, newsletters, miscellaneous booklets, papers and
lists concerning the AAUW in Lake Charles from 1940 to the 1980s.
Dr. Karl Everett Ashburn
Collection
Contains original text of speeches and manuscripts, course materials and various
publications related to Dr. Ashuburn's time at McNeese State University.

Walker Ayer, Jr. Papers
The collection consists of Contraband (newspaper) clippings from Ayer’s years at
McNeese Junior College (1940-1941) and an MJC football sweater (1940).
Board of Trustees for State Colleges and Universities/Board
of Supervisors Collection
Contains minutes of the board meetings from
1975 to date. Name changed to Board of Supervisors under the University of
Louisiana System.
Dr. Francis G. Bulber Collection
The collection contains CDs (transferred from reel-to-reel tapes) of performances
conducted by Dr. Bulber from dates prior to 1954 to 1978. The performances are
primarily operas performed by students at McNeese, the annual performance of The
Messiah, and the Lake Charles Civic Symphony.
Michael K. Dees/Board of Regents Collection
The collection consists of correspondence,
newspaper clippings, manuals, annual reports, meeting minutes and various other documents
relating to Michael K. Dees' time as a member of the Louisiana Board of Regents.
Jack V. Doland Papers
The collection consists of six photographs, ca. 1987; eulogies, proclamations,
and letters surrounding Doland’s death, 1991-1992; and an advertising proof
sheet for Doland’s 1987 campaign for the Louisiana Senate.
Andre Dubus Collection
Clippings, correspondence, signed and unsigned
samples of his literary works, handwritten and typed manuscripts of this locally-born
author.
Dr. G. Thomas Fox
Photograph Collection
The collection contains slides and film pertaining to various McNeese State
University Bayou Players productions and Lake Charles Little Theatre
performances from 1979 to 1984.
Lether E. Frazar Collection
Contains general and miscellaneous information
about L. E. Frazar, correspondence to and from L. E. Frazar dating from 1935-1959,
scholarships issued from 1956-1960, information about Louisiana schools and government,
wool hat, boxing gloves and photographs.
R. Gordon Holcombe/Friends of the Library Collection
The Holcombe Collection consists of audio recordings of news and interviews,
personal correspondence and documents, and documents concerning the formation of
the Frazar Memorial Library Friends of the Library. Additional materials
regarding the reestablishment of the Friends group in 1981 are located in the
Frazar Memorial Library Collection.
Robert Jordahl Music Collection
The collection consists of original musical works written by Robert Jordahl,
Professor of Music at McNeese State University. It includes published and
unpublished music as well as books, articles, clippings and Jordahl’s thesis and
dissertation.
Lake Charles Area Audio Collection
The collection consists of reel-to-reel tapes and cassette tapes of recordings of Lake Charles area symphonies and
choruses. Included are the McNeese State University band and wind ensemble and the Lake
Charles Civic Symphony.
The
John McNeese Collection
The collection consists of materials donated from different sources. The
materials range from McNeese’s Civil War service to modern-day photographs of
the McNeese family, including biographical articles and papers, copies of
military records, photographs, and books. The collection also includes furniture
from McNeese’s home and office.
The McNeese Alumni
Association Collection
The collection consists of two large banners with the MSU 50th
anniversary logo and a yellow handkerchief with the McNeese Alumni logo. The
McNeese Alumni logo is based on McNeese’s first logo, the cowboy on a bucking
horse with its back legs in the air. The collection also contains material
relating to various class reunions.
Dr. Donald J. Millet Collection
Contains addresses on historical subjects,
photographs from the Lake Charles vicinity, material related to the Knapp memorial on the
McNeese campus, correspondence and biographical material on area citizens.
The
Stella Nesanovich Papers
The Papers consist of copies of Nesanovich's published works, arranged in
chronological order.
Frank O. Pruitt/Board of Regents Collection
This collection contains the material from the
Board of Regents meetings from April 1983 through July 1988. Included are Academic
Affairs Committee meetings, Planning and Research Committee meetings, Finance Committee
meetings and Legislation Committee meetings. The collection also contains
information on the Higher Education Desegregation Consent Decree.
The Raleigh A. Suarez Papers
The papers consist of Suarez’ graduate school papers, professional papers,
Louisiana Historical Association materials, and McNeese artifacts. Suarez was a
History professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs at McNeese. The
collection also includes a collection of three personal essays by Loraine
Suarez.
The Joe Gray Taylor Papers
The Papers consist of typescripts of Taylor's books with handwritten notes,
correspondence, and working papers. Taylor was a History professor and Dean of
Liberal Arts at McNeese.
Margery Parsons Wilson Collection
Prompt books and scrapbooks belonging to Mrs.
Wilson, who established the McNeese Department of Speech and organized the Bayou Players.
Photographs, clippings, poems, notecards, newsletters, programs, one box of award
Plaques (4) and correspondence are included.
The Dr. John A. Wood Papers
The Papers consist of personal photographs of memorabilia of Wood’s family;
letters and poems to Wood; manuscript materials and research notes for “Secrets
of the Dark Chamber: Writings on the American Daguerreotype;” and signed posters
from literary events on the McNeese campus. The Papers also include three Robert
Olen Butler manuscripts and photographs of Butler’s wedding.
